AI electrical schematics: design first, then draw.
Designing a machine control panel takes more than a picture of a circuit. It requires clear requirements, identified components, documented pins and consistent connections. An AI assistant can help organise this work, but a generated drawing must remain traceable to the designer's data and decisions.
Electrion is Windows software for electrical schematics with an integrated assistant. The conversation, electrical model, A3 drawings and project registers share the same revisioned data. This guide explains how to set up that process and what to check before delivery.
What to prepare for a control panel schematic
Collect the available specifications before asking for a drawing. Record missing information as an open issue: AI must not turn it into a seemingly verified value.
- Machine functions, required sequences and operating conditions.
- Available power supplies, loads, power ratings and nameplate data.
- Sensors, actuators, pushbuttons, indicators and I/O signals.
- Preferred components, part numbers and manufacturer manuals with revision and provenance.
- Panel constraints, terminals, cables and required deliverables.
For example, “a 1.5 kW motor with an inverter” is insufficient to define wiring and protection. You also need the supply, drive model, motor nameplate, controls and manuals. Power alone does not establish protective device ratings, cable size or pinout.
How to use an AI assistant before drawing
- Create the project and import sources. Keep the originals and distinguish requirements, assumptions and confirmed data.
- Discuss components and functions. Ask the assistant to summarise what is needed, missing information and alternatives before generating drawings.
- Build the electrical model. Identify devices, pins, nets, wires, terminals, cables and sheets. Connections must be explicit, rather than implied by graphic proximity.
- Check and revise. Read the results, resolve inconsistencies and keep outstanding issues visible.
- Generate and inspect every sheet. Correct the layout, save and export again from the same revision.
In Electrion, you can discuss a project before requesting a schematic. The assistant sits beside the drawing and uses the project model. Changing that model creates a new revision that needs checking.
Electrical symbols and libraries: avoiding invented drawings
A rectangle labelled “PLC” does not describe a device or its wiring on its own. Electrion prioritises available symbols and QElectroTech imports where the format is supported. If no usable definition is found, it can create an original symbol while recording searches, sources and reasons.
Symbol shape and pinout are different kinds of information. Photos and drawings can help explain appearance; terminals and their functions must come from documentation applicable to the component. The brand and part number must match the actual variant selected.
What to check on the drawings
- Unique tags, consistent references and agreement between devices and registers.
- Distinct PE, neutral, 0 V and shield identities; explicit nets and connections.
- Readable pins, numbering, cross-references and text on every physical page.
- No accidental overlaps or clipping; unambiguous crossings between different nets.
- A shared revision for drawings, model, bill of materials and check report.
An automatic symbol bounding-box check does not establish complete readability. Inspect every new or modified sheet, including subsequent pages of I/O groups. An unperformed check remains NON_ESEGUITO (not performed); a successful export does not turn it into PASS.
Delivery formats and limits
Electrion exports an editable JSON model, A3 SVG drawings and CSV registers in a coordinated package. PDF comes from printing the drawings. These outputs are not native EPLAN, SPAC or AutoCAD Electrical projects.
Automatic checks, technical approval and physical commissioning are separate stages. The software helps build and check a traceable draft; it does not automatically certify the panel, electrical sizing or machine safety.
Getting started with Electrion
Register, download the Windows app and connect the device to your plan. Free requires no card and includes one device, two projects and twenty sheets per project. The assistant requires your own AI account or API; that usage is billed separately from your Electrion subscription.
Projects stay on your PC. The website manages downloads, licences and subscriptions. It does not automatically synchronise project archives between devices or expose the drawing workspace in the browser.
